Same Camera, Two Housings
Same camera inside? Yes, by the spec sheets. Both list a 1/1.2" 8MP sensor, 4K at 30 fps, a ƒ/1.5–ƒ/2.9 lens with 2.36× optical zoom (113.8° to 45.5° horizontal), 40 m IR, two-way audio, microSD, GbE, and PoE+ at 15 W, at $479 each. The differences are the housing, the cold rating, and one accessory. (G6 Pro Bullet specs)
Ubiquiti sells its Pro optics in three bodies, and the two at $479 are interchangeable on image. The G6 Pro Bullet arrived first, in August 2025; the G6 Pro Turret followed in October with the vandal-rated G6 Pro Dome. The only optical difference on the spec sheets is a wide-end focal length of 5.9 mm against 5.85 mm, which changes nothing a viewer could see.
So this is a mounting decision, not a picture-quality one, and it mirrors the choice one tier down in G6 Bullet vs G6 Turret. What the Pro tier adds is one new variable, the Vision Enhancer, and a heavier pair of cameras that make the mounting surface matter more. How to choose a UniFi Protect camera places the Pro tier among the ten G6 cameras this site tracks.
