We wrote this pair up

For most new installs in 2026 the U7 Pro ($189) is the better buy over the U6 Pro ($159). The extra $30 buys a 6 GHz Wi-Fi 7 radio, 320 MHz channels, and a 2.5 GbE uplink that removes the bottleneck the U6 Pro's 1 GbE port creates. The one exception: if your switches deliver only 802.3af PoE, the U7 Pro's 21 W draw (it needs 802.3at / PoE+) is a hard blocker — there the U6 Pro's 13 W keeps you running without a switch upgrade.

UniFi U6 Pro

The sensible default Wi-Fi 6 AP. A 4×4 5 GHz radio and 160 MHz channel width give it real headroom over the U6 Lite — but the 1 GbE uplink is the ceiling, not the air.

Best for Mainstream homes and small offices that want a no-drama Wi-Fi 6 AP with room to grow, without paying for Wi-Fi 7.

UniFi U7 Pro

The first genuinely affordable Wi-Fi 7 UniFi AP. The 6 GHz radio and 2.5 GbE uplink finally move the bottleneck off the wire — the obvious pick for new installs.

Best for New deployments and Wi-Fi 6 upgraders who want 6 GHz and a 2.5 GbE uplink without stepping up to the U7 Pro Max / Enterprise tier.

What this does, and what it refuses to do

Every value in the table is the figure Ubiquiti publishes, read from the same sourced record that renders each product’s gear page. Nothing is re-typed here, so a spec correction reaches this tool the moment it reaches the page it came from. Prices are the list prices on those same records.

A specification listed on one sheet and not the other is reported apart from the table and never scored. That distinction does real work: the G6 Instant publishes no zoom figure, which is not a zoom of zero — it is Ubiquiti not stating one. Treating silence as a weakness would invent a fact, which is the single thing a sourced catalogue exists to prevent.

A pair needs at least 8 shared specifications before a table is drawn at all. Two access points share sixteen or more; an access point and a NAS share three, and those three are dimensions, weight and power draw — the rows every record carries. Rendering that as a comparison would dress a coincidence up as an analysis, so the tool says the pair does not compare and stops.

The verdict slot is the important one. When a pair has a written head-to-head, you get its answer and a link to the full piece. When it does not, you get a sentence saying so. There is no third case where the tool reads the table and decides for you — the comparisons are written by someone who has deployed the hardware, and a difference count is not the same thing as a recommendation.

Spec sheets describe hardware under test conditions, not your building. Coverage figures assume open space, throughput figures assume a clean channel and a client that can use it, and the difference between two access points on paper is routinely smaller than the difference one wall makes. Use the table to rule options out, then read the write-up — or ask someone who has hung both.
